Man United fans have been reacting to the news that the club are close to securing a new contract for Harry Maguire.

The Red Devils are currently 10th in the Premier League after they beat Sunderland 2-0 in their last game before the international break. They have won two out of their last three, and will be able to come out of the break with some cautious optimism.

It could be getting better for United too, as they are working to secure a new contract for centre-back Harry Maguire, who has become a really reliable defensive option for Ruben Amorim. His current deal is due to expire at the end of the season, but Fabrizio Romano is reporting via ManchesterWorld that United are working to keep him at the club.

Maguire has turned things round at Man United

The English defender joined Man United with a huge reputation and expectation. He signed from Leicester City for a record-breaking figure of £80m, and initially struggled. Many United fans began to criticise the defender, with many calling for the club to sell him just a couple of years into his tenure at Old Trafford.

However, when Amorim came in, the Portuguese manager very quickly expressed his love for Maguire, as someone who is both impressive in the dressing room and on the pitch.

Since Amorim joined, the United manager made it very clear that he wanted to keep Maguire around, and the reports about a potential new contract for the 32-year-old justifies that. Amorim likes him, and Maguire wants to stay at Old Trafford, it’s a no brainer.
