“A realistic chance”: United plot to execute £57m raid for game-changing signing next summer – Ben Jacobs

All of a sudden, Harry Kane has become a hot topic in the gossip columns.

Reports suggest that, come next summer, the Bayern Munich talisman could make his long-awaited Premier League return.

Release clause

It has been revealed that Kane has a £56.7 million release clause that Premier League sides can activate next summer.

And while top clubs like United are lining up to pounce on the chance to land a proven goal-scoring monster, there is a catch.

To activate that clause, INEOS must win Kane’s red-hot race in the winter because it only becomes valid if Kane informs Bayern of his intention to leave in January.

With all eyes now on INEOS to make the necessary moves and fend off competition from Premier League rivals like Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City, Bayern have responded to the growing exit talk.

Bayern react

Bayern chief Max Eberl, fully aware of the situation, has offered a telling admission on where the club stands. He says via Sport Bild:

“[Kane is] old enough to make his own decisions, whether it’s a clause or no clause, whatever – if he says he wants to make a decision, then he’ll make it, as he showed at Tottenham. But our wish is, of course, to be very, very successful with Harry this season and in the future!”

While he admits Kane’s future ultimately lies in his own hands, Eberl adds:

“At his age, he’s making huge progress on the pitch. We all knew him from Tottenham, from his goal-scoring skills, but the way he’s playing football right now in this team, leading the way on the pitch, sacrificing himself for the team, shows: He simply wants to win titles, that’s his hunger! He can do that with us, that’s what we want to do with him!”

Transfer to keep an eye on

Ben Jacobs, speaking to The United Stand, was asked whether United could pull off the deal. He admitted:

“I think there is. I’m not going to get anyone too excited so early.

“Kane has this release clause that was kept secret, and it’s €65m to my knowledge. After the World Cup, there is a realistic chance that Kane returns.

“I’m told Kane, when he moved to Bayern, had this idea that he would come back after Bayern at some point.”

🗣 @JacobsBen on if there is anything in the Harry Kane links to Man Utd: “I think there is. I’m not going to get anyone too excited so early.”

United fans will hope “this idea” leads the Englishman to the Theatre of Dreams.

At Old Trafford, Kane would have the perfect platform to chase down the 48 goals he needs to surpass Alan Shearer as the Premier League’s all-time leading scorer.

With 12 goals in 6 games, one of his brightest starts to a season, Kane still burns with the fire and desire to lead a team to glory. Premier League sides could certainly use his ruthless edge in front of goal.

At United, he could also serve as the ideal mentor for young striker Benjamin Sesko, helping the Slovenian unlock his full potential.
