Manchester United right-back Diogo Dalot has reportedly returned to grass training, as his return to action edges closer.
The 26-year-old has made four appearances since the start of the season, contributing with one assist. However, he hurt himself during his stay with the Portuguese national team at the start of the month, which saw him return to Carrington in the middle of the international break.
The former AC Milan player reportedly suffered from muscle soreness, so his injury wasn’t considered serious, but it still ruled him out of Man Utd’s last two contests against Manchester City and Chelsea. In his absence, Ruben Amorim’s men suffered a 0-3 defeat to their crosstown rivals, but pounced on their numerical advantage to secure a 2-1 rebound win over the West Londoners.
Man United set to regain the services of Diogo Dalot
In his latest post on the Centre Devils, United insider Sully revealed the latest on Dalot’s condition.
The journalist insists that the Portugal international has been making rapid progress, and has already returned to grass training.
This is certainly encouraging news for Amorim, as his compatriot Dalot has been described as one of his main ‘allies’ in the locker room.
Dalot has often backed the 40-year-old publicly, insisting that the latter is capable of leading the club back to Premier League glory.
Diego Dalot’s role in Amorim’s Man Utd system
In the current 3-4-2-1 system, the Porto youth product has been vying for a starting place with Amad Diallo, as the two players are considered the main options for the right-wingback role, despite their vastly different characteristics.
Nevertheless, the two players can still co-exist, as Dalot is also capable of filling in on the left wing whenever required, while Amad could always revisit his original role in the attacking trident, especially when one between Matheus Cunha or Bryan Mbeumo is missing.
