Amorim convinced he can turn things around at Manchester United

Ruben Amorim is yet to find the light at the end of the tunnel at Manchester United.

The Portuguese head coach was stationed as Erik ten Hag’s replacement at the Theatre of Dreams in November last year. Unfortunately, Amorim’s record has been far worse than that of his predecessor.

Ten Hag won 70 of 128 games during his time with the Red Devils, registering a 54.69% win ratio.

Amorim, meanwhile, has picked up just 17 wins in 47 games for the English giants so far, while losing 18 more. For the record, his win ratio stands at 36.17%.

A dismal record in the league

Amorim’s record in the Premier League has been particularly poor, with the Portuguese managing just eight wins in 31 games. The run includes 16 defeats, including this weekend’s 0-3 humiliation at the hands of Manchester City at the Etihad.

United arrived on the back of their 3-2 win over Burnley just before the international break. That victory was expected to be the turning point for the season, following a three-game winless start.

However, it proved to be a false dawn, as the Red Devils were exposed by their noisy neighbours this weekend.

United finished 15th in the Premier League last season, and also lost the Europa League final to Tottenham Hotspur.

Right now, Amorim’s team are 14th in the league after four games, already eight points behind leaders Liverpool.

Despite investing heavily in the attack this summer, United have managed just four goals in four games in the league so far. Amorim, understandably, is feeling the heat at the Theatre of Dreams.

Amorim remains confident

The weekend’s defeat has been heavily scrutinised by pundits and fans, and many are already calling for Amorim’s head. The Portuguese’s 3-4-3 formation is yet to bear fruit at Old Trafford, which has further complicated matters.

However, according to acclaimed journalist Fabrizio Romano, the former Sporting manager is convinced that he can turn things around.

The acclaimed journalist was asked in his GIVEMESPORT Newsletter whether United still have 100% belief in their manager. Romano replied: “It’s a difficult moment of course but Amorim wants to give his best for Man United, he’s convinced that with time he will sort things.”

The Premier League giants next face Chelsea at Old Trafford on Saturday, September 20. A win would give Amorim some breathing space, but a defeat could see the wolves arrive at the door.
