Amorim has grand plans in place to get his players firing on all cylinders, it could be a masterstroke – report

Manchester United’s players are likely to have a lot of free time between games following their shock EFL Cup exit.

They failed to qualify for Europe following their heartbreaking Europa League final defeat, and that means only one midweek fixture before Christmas.

INEOS are formulating plans to conduct mid-season friendlies abroad to raise revenue for the club, with talks ongoing with several other European sides who are also in a similar situation.

How the players and Ruben Amorim will take the decision will be interesting to see. But the head coach has plans of his own as per The Sun.

Bonding trip

He wants to take the squad on a mid-season bonding trip to either Algarve or even the Middle East. It will not all be fun and games however, with the players also expected to take part in training sessions.

The Portuguese tactician feels such warm-weather training camps would strengthen the bond between players and galvanise them as an unit.

Training at Carrington can get monotonous, and INEOS are currently discussing with Amorim on how to take this forward.

“SunSport can reveal that Amorim is considering taking his players on a series of in-season bonding trips during their extra time off.

It could work wonders

“The Portuguese manager believes trips to the Algarve or even the Middle East would allow the players to spend more time in each others’ company and strengthen their connections.

“While a final decision has not been taken, the argument is that giving the players a change of scenery rather than spending every training day at their main Carrington base would help galvanise his squad.”

Amorim and the players loved their pre-season trip to the United States, and they are hoping for a similar impact if INEOS do greenlit these plans.

The 20-time English league champions return to Premier League action on Sunday, with the short trip to the Etihad to take on noisy neighbours, Manchester City.
