Explosive revelation: United star feels he has been made a “scapegoat”, does not feel he deserved to be cut loose – report

After two seasons of underperformance, Manchester United have finally gotten rid of Andre Onana.

The Cameroonian has agreed to move to Trabzonspor on loan for the rest of the season, after initially making it clear he wanted to stay and fight for his place.

After the Red Devils’ humiliating EFL Cup exit at the hands of Grimsby Town, Ruben Amorim finally decided to act.

With the support of Sir Jim Ratcliffe, the 20-time English league champions brought in Senne Lammens, while deciding to get rid of the Cameroonian.

The 29-year-old has not been impressed, with CaughtOffside relaying that the United shot-stopper feels he has been made a scapegoat for the rest of the team’s poor form.

Onana feels he has been made a scapegoat

Not only that but the ex-Ajax ace still feels he is better than the club’s new Belgian arrival, Altay Bayindir, as well as Tom Heaton.

Interestingly, with a place in Cameroon’s World Cup squad at stake, Andre Onana did not feel it worthy to try and fight to climb up the pecking order, and hence decided to take on the new Turkish challenge.

“Onana knew in August he could go, but he was always confident of becoming number one again. But I am told that once Lammens arrived, it was made clear to him that he was very much number three in the pecking order.

“At that point, he knew he could not remain at the club, and that is really when his people started working hard on options for him.

He feels he is United’s best goalkeeper

“Onana firmly believes that he has been used as something of a scapegoat, and he still thinks he is the best goalkeeper United have.

“But he is heading into a World Cup year and African Cup of Nations in January and wants to be playing, so he has accepted the move.”

Even if the former Inter Milan shot-stopper does well for Trabzonspor, INEOS have no plans of reintegrating him back into the squad.

They will be hoping the goalie can regain some of his former form, so that his market value jumps up, which will help United sell him to the highest bidder.
