United ace second fastest in the Premier League this season, it’s not who fans might expect – report

Manchester United managed a coup by securing the services of Bryan Mbeumo this summer. The Cameroonian forward was a wanted man following an explosive 2024/25 campaign with Brentford.

Mbeumo registered 20 goals and nine assists from 42 games for the Bees last season. Ruben Amorim quickly identified the 26 year old as the ideal fit in the right forward role in his system.

Manchester United subsequently went to great lengths to secure the player’s signature, signing him in a reported £71m deal.

Mbeumo has settled in well at Old Trafford so far, and has already registered two goals in four appearances.

Mbeumo is already a key player for Amorim

Mbeumo has started all three games in the Premier League this season for United. He was on the bench for the EFL Cup tie against Grimsby Town, but came on at the break to score his first goal for the Red Devils.

Although United lost the game on penalties, with the Cameroonian missing his second spot kick, he has quickly become a key figure in Amorim’s team.

The Portuguese head coach has also praised the player’s ability to stretch the opposition.

Against Burnley just ahead of the international break, Mbeumo score his first Premier League goal for United, and helped them pick up a 3-2 win.

That strike won the club’s Goal of the Month, while the Cameroonian was adjudged the Player of the Month for August.

Only Jackson Tchatchoua faster than Mbeumo in the Premier League

While Mbeumo’s goalscoring ability is likely to be an asset for United this season, it’s another aspect of his game that will pleasantly surprise fans. According to the Premier League, the Cameroonian has registered the second-fastest speed in the league this season.

Only Wolverhampton Wanderers full-back Jackson Tchatchoua (37.3 kmph) was faster than the former Brentford man in the first three games of the season.

Mbeumo registered a top speed of 36.3 kmph during the 1-1 draw against Fulham. Chasing a cross-field clearance from Manuel Ugarte, the Cameroonian went full throttle into the opposition half.

The Cottagers’ full-back, Antonee Robinson, had a healthy head start in the footrace, but Mbeumo almost caught up to him before the ball was cleared.

The other players in the top five are former United man Anthony Elanga (36.0 kmph), Brighton & Hove Albion speedster Yakub Minteh (36.1 kmph), and another former Red Devils forward, Daniel James (36.1 kmph), who currently plays for Leeds United.
