Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana would be wise to find himself a new club in the coming days after falling completely out of favour with Ruben Amorim.
The Cameroonian was bought from Inter Milan in the summer of 2023 for £47.5 million. But while he was supposed to be David De Gea’s longtime successor, the goalkeeper has been an unmitigated disaster between the posts, costing the club dearly with his recurring blunders.
Onana has even been described as an ‘unpopular’ figure in the locker room due to his showboating, as he tends to prefer style over substance.
This season, the 29-year-old started his campaign on the sidelines as his summer was wrecked by a hamstring injury. However, he only needed one abysmal display on a calamitous evening in Grimsby to remind the world why Man Utd were in desperate need of a new goalkeeper.

With Onana’s miserable Carabao Cup display serving as the last straw, INEOS immediately accelerated their talks with Royal Antwerp and succeeded in signing Senne Lammens on deadline day.
According to TBR Football’s chief correspondent Graeme Bailey, the Cameroon international was already informed about the arrival of a new shot-stopper.
Moreover, the source believes Onana might well be Amorim’s third choice at the moment, with Lammens and Altay Bayindir ahead of him in the pecking order.
Therefore, the former Ajax and Inter star could be facing a nightmarish campaign if he ends up lingering at Carrington. This situation could prompt him to consider his remaining options.
As Bailey reveals, Onana has suitors in Turkiye, including reigning champions Galatasaray, but a move to Saudi Arabia might be more plausible at this stage, with several top clubs keeping an eye on the situation.
Onana attracting interest from Turkiye & Saudi Pro League
Saudi Pro League side Al-Shabab has reportedly expressed a desire to sign the Man Utd struggler. Moreover, Al-Ittihad are equally keen, but they must first offload one of their foreign players to make room for the goalkeeper.
Fellow Saudi giants Al-Nassr and Al-Hilal are also following the rapidly developing saga, as they had considered changing their foreign goalkeepers (Bento and Yassine Bounou).
Nevertheless, Onana must make a swift decision, as the transfer market in Saudi Arabia will close on September 10, while the Turkish market will remain open for an extra day.
At this stage, United can only hope to find a solution for their crowded goalkeeping department, while Bayindir’s exit remains an alternative possibility.
