Fabrizio Romano offers update on Chelsea chief Todd Boehly’s horrific quotes about Jadon Sancho

After months of trying, Manchester United finally offloaded Jadon Sancho on deadline day, with Aston Villa taking the plunge on a loan deal.

INEOS wanted to get rid permanently, but the Englishman refused to leave, which put paid to hopes of United landing Emiliano Martinez.

He was supposed to a Chelsea player when they agreed to loan him out last summer, with the Blues obligated to buy him. Despite the obligation being triggered, the London club opted against signing him.

His inconsistent form and wage demands were cited as reasons with the Stamford Bridge outfit paying the Red Devils a £5 million penalty to escape their obligation.

Boehly on Sancho

However, Todd Boehly, Chelsea’s president revealed the truth to La Repubblica (via Roma Press), claiming his off-field antics forced Chelsea’s hand.

“We had an agreement to buy him for €20 million, but last season the player missed several training sessions, including a match at the stadium.”

“He spent the night chatting with his girlfriend, slept during the day, and then, whenever he had two days off, he went to Los Angeles to visit his beloved. That’s why we chose to pay the penalty.”

🚨❌ Quotes reported by Italian press from Todd Boehly about Jadon Sancho are completely fake.

Fabrizio Romano was quick to issue a statement, claiming Boehly gave no such interview.

“Quotes reported by Italian press from Todd Boehly about Jadon Sancho are completely fake,” the Italian wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

Romano issues clarification

“Todd Boehly didn’t release any interview to Italian newspapers about Jadon Sancho and never commented about the English winger situation.”

United fans will know all these allegations are true, as the England international was frequently late for training and stayed awake at night to play games on his console.

These accusations date back to his time at the Manchester City academy and all subsequent teams have faced these issues, and Erik ten Hag opted to exile the forward as a result.

Thankfully, he is now Villa’s problem and hopefully, from next season, INEOS can get rid permanently.
