Official: United finally rid of Jadon Sancho with almost entire wages covered, fans will be jumping for joy

Manchester United have confirmed the departure of Jadon Sancho on loan to Aston Villa.

“Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho has signed for Aston Villa in a season-long loan deal, subject to registration,” the official club website announced.

The Red Devils have found it hard to move on the Englishman on a permanent basis, with the ex-Manchester City starlet turning down moves to multiple clubs in Italy and Turkiye.

INEOS were even proposing a direct swap deal which would see the 25-year-old head to the Midlands while the 20-time English league champions would, in turn, receive Emiliano Martinez.

Confirmed loan move

However, the former Borussia Dortmund ace refused to accept a permanent move, and instead opted to join the Villans on loan for the rest of the season.

That put paid to United’s hopes of landing the World Cup winning goalie, and instead they signed Senne Lammens from Royal Antwerp on deadline day.

Jadon Sancho will spend the remainder of 2025/26 on loan at Aston Villa.

Good luck, Jadon!

As previously relayed by The Peoples Person, the straight loan deal will see Unai Emery’s side pay 80% of the England international’s wages.

That is not all as the loan deal includes certain clauses, which if triggered, would see Villa paying his entire wages believed to be around £250,000 gross per week (via capology).

Wages almost covered as well

While INEOS would have preferred to have gotten rid permanently, getting his wages off the books represents a good deal.

This will be the forward’s third loan spell away from United, which shows what a terrible signing he has been for the club.

His current deal lasts until 2026 with the club having the option of extending it by a year. It will be intriguing to see if INEOS actually trigger the extension in hope of earning a fee or just get rid.

Jadon Sancho plans to leave as a free agent so that he can have his pick of clubs, while also earning a lucrative signing-on bonus. Which explains his stance of not joining the Birmingham-based side permanently this summer.
