Rasmus Hojlund is thought to be on the verge of signing for Napoli for the rest of the season.
After over a week of negotiations between the Serie A outfit and Manchester United, a deal has now reportedly been reached that’ll see Hojlund make the move on a season-long loan. Then, Napoli – on the condition they qualify for the Champions League – will have to fork out a £40 million fee to add him to their ranks permanently.

The Scudetto winners weren’t the only club in the mix for his signature, though.
When it became clear that United wanted to offload Hojlund immediately after they signed Benjamin Sesko, AC Milan were one of the first sides to establish their interest in signing the Danish international.
Despite being reluctant to engage in any exit discussions at first, he eventually opened the door to a summer departure after being informed by Ruben Amorim that his game time would be heavily reduced if he stayed put.
Hojlund subsequently green-lit a switch to the San Siro, before an injury to Romelu Lukaku prompted Napoli to swoop in and convince the striker to join them over their Italian rivals.

There was also a slight possibility he would’ve had the option of continuing in the Premier League, too.
According to Andy Mitten, both Fulham and Newcastle United considered making approaches for the 22-year-old, but eventually deemed him too expensive for their wage structure.
Newcastle have since pursued VfB Stuttgart’s Nick Woltemade amidst Alexander Isak’s ongoing absence from the first-team.
Nonetheless, Hojlund is poised to reunite with former teammate Scott McTominay, whose career has flourished since departing his boyhood team, in Naples, as they vie to retain their league title this term.
