Manchester United are preparing to sanction another loan outgoing in the form of Toby Collyer to West Bromwich Albion.
Already, the Red Devils have bid farewell to Marcus Rashford (Barcelona), Ethan Wheatley (Northampton Town) and Dan Gore (Rotherham United).
Fabrizio Romano confirmed this morning, following Laurie Whitwell’s initial report, that Collyer is ‘on the verge’ of joining the Baggies for the 2025/2026 campaign, with an ‘agreement’ said to be ‘imminent’.

The 21-year-old had garnered interest from a handful of Championship outfits but ultimately opted for West Brom, which will see him work under former Tottenham Hotspur coach Ryan Mason.
United’s lack of European football for the forthcoming term means minutes would’ve been incredibly hard to come by for Collyer, who’s vying with the likes of Kobbie Mainoo, Casemiro and Manuel Ugarte for a spot in the middle of the park.
At this stage of his career, spending 10 months gaining crucial experience in a senior setup, as opposed to sitting on the bench and making brief substitute cameos, is undoubtedly the most valuable option for all parties.
Collyer’s United tenure thus far
Collyer will then return to Old Trafford next summer with hopes that he’s done enough to be considered a key part of Ruben Amorim’s project.
The Carrington graduate, hailed as an ‘excellent’ talent by Rio Ferdinand, made his first-team debut 12 months ago in the Community Shield final against Manchester City, and proceeded to make an additional 12 appearances throughout the season.
His maiden Premier League outing came in the second half of a home defeat to Liverpool last September, while he had his first taste of European action in a 2-1 Europa League win over Rangers in January.
In 2022, Worthing-born Collyer was snapped up by United’s scouts when they prised him from Brighton and Hove Albion’s academy ranks. He signed an extended deal with the Reds in 2024, keeping him tied to Old Trafford until 2027 – plus the option of an additional year.
