A top European club has reportedly fired off a shock attempt to beat competitors to the loan signing of Manchester United youngster Harry Amass.
Amass attracting plenty of loan interest
Amass enjoyed his breakthrough campaign at United in 2024/25, making his senior debut for the club in March, when he came on as a substitute in the 3-0 win over Leicester City.
The youngster finished the season having mustered seven appearances across the Premier League and the Europa League.
However, despite flashes of his brilliance and sky-high potential, it was abundantly clear that he still has a long way to go before he can regularly line up for the United first team.
The physical nature of some opponents proved challenging for Amass, most notably in the defeat to Brentford at the Gtech Community Stadium.
Amass was left out of United’s travelling squad for the US pre-season tour amidst the club’s decision to sanction a loan exit. Sheffield Wednesday have been strongly linked with a swoop for the 18-year-old.
A recent report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that there as many as 15 teams lining up to take Amass for the upcoming 2025/26 term.
Now, the Daily Mail have revealed that last season’s Eredivisie winners, PSV Eindhoven, are pushing to land the England youth international ahead of Wednesday.
Amass could join Champions League club
According to Nathan Salt, “A loan move is also edging ever closer for young left back Harry Amass, with Daily Mail Sport able to reveal that PSV Eindhoven are making a push to beat competition in the Championship.”
“PSV, managed by Peter Bosz, have made their pitch to Amass’ camp and given one of Amass’ closest friends in the United dressing room, Mason Mount, himself spent time on loan in the Netherlands as a youngster with Vitesse may help bolster their case.”
Salt notes that the main reason why Amass is highly in-demand is due to the fact that United are not demanding for a loan fee.
United view a loan move as an opportunity for Amass to develop and refine his game, rather than an opening to enhance their PSR position.
One factor that could tilt things in Wednesday’s favour and dent PSV’s chances is United’s desire for Amass to develop in an environment that tests him both physically and in his defensive technique. This is something the Championship delivers better than most other top-flight divisions in Europe.
