Manchester United have made some solid acquisitions to the team this summer transfer window. They have brought in the likes Bryan Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha and Benjamin Sesko.

The Red Devils have almost solely focussed in the attack so far this summer. With just a few weeks left in the window, the club will be keen to focus on other positions.

One player that Man Utd have been extensively linked with in recent days is Brighton midfield star Carlos Baleba. The Red Devils want to sign the Cameroonian midfielder to bolster the center of the pitch.

The Red Devils missed out on Moises Caicedo all those years ago but they do not want to repeat the same mistake with the Seagulls talent. As per MARCA, Man Utd are expected to submit an offer for the 21-year-old player.

However, there is one stumbling block that the Red Devils face. Brighton are an excellent selling club and always manage to extract as much as they can from any player’s sale. They are unlikely to do any favors for Man Utd.

Brighton want a record fee for Baleba

As per the Athletic, Brighton want more for Baleba than they received from Chelsea for Caicedo. The Blues played somewhere close to £115million for the Ecuadorian star and Man Utd might have to pay more to sign Baleba this summer.

Baleba will add a lot of quality to the Man Utd midfield. He would be a massive upgrade on Manuel Ugarte who was signed from PSG last summer but flattered to deceive so far. However, the price tag Brighton have set is quite exorbitant.

Irrespective of how talented Baleba is, Man Utd should not be forking over and beyond to sign the Cameroonian international this summer. The club need to find a way to convince Brighton to sell him for much lesser. Let’s wait and see how the Red Devils go about the negotiations and if they are able to achieve some middle ground.
