“Here we go”: Top United target edges closer to exit as replacement is landed by French giants – Fabrizio Romano

After a summer of speculation, it has never been this clear that Gianluigi Donnarumma’s future lies away from Paris Saint-Germain.

The Manchester United target now holds all the leverage to push for an exit from the European champions.

As brilliant as the Italian shot-stopper has been for PSG, they have gone ahead and agreed a deal with LOSC Lille for Lucas Chevalier.

Fabrizio Romano has just confirmed the Chevalier deal as a “here we go”:

Chevalier is considered Luis Enrique’s new number one at Parc des Princes.

With his signing, Donnarumma, who had previously snubbed a contract extension, now sees his fate at PSG sealed.

The world-class keeper is now deemed dispensable, with transfer insider Ben Jacobs shedding light on his increasingly tricky situation in Paris.

Jacobs revealed to a United news outlet:

“Donnarumma will not be offered a new contract at PSG. He could stay for one more year, or he could leave now. PSG won’t accept anything below €30 million.”

With next year being a FIFA World Cup year, it makes little sense for Donnarumma to be warming the bench when he could easily be starting elsewhere.

There is already fierce competition for his signature.

Still, United will hope that, just as Benjamin Sesko, Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo were, Donnarumma is blown away by the project once it is presented to him.

It was claimed he would push to join a club whose project he feels he fits into.

Andre Onana needs tough competition at Old Trafford and none comes tougher than Donnarumma.
