Bruno’s cheeky message to David

Bruno Fernandes has fired a cheeky message to former Manchester United team-mate David De Gea, ahead of Saturday’s Snapdragon Cup game against Fiorentina.

The two men, who have dominated the Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year awards since 2013/14, with four wins apiece, will be on opposite sides in Saturday’s 12:45 BST kick-off, live on MUTV.

Tickets are still available for the final warm-up game at Old Trafford, in advance of the following weekend’s Premier League opener against Arsenal.

David, who amassed 545 appearances for the club after signing from Atletico Madrid in 2011, replied to one of our posts on X highlighting the game to say: “United Road. See you Saturday.”

And his friend Fernandes cannot wait to be reunited with the experienced keeper, who excelled last term for Fiorentina, and signed a new contract with the Serie A club to extend his stay in Italy.

“David, my friend, I can’t wait to see you at the Snapdragon Cup,” our no.8 messaged David, through club channels. “I hope you enjoy being back at Old Trafford, to see your fans, your house, your home.

“At the same time, I hope I score some goals against you and we enjoy the day together!

“See you soon, my friend.”

The pair lined up together 152 times for the Reds and this is the first time David will have played against the club he served so well, in what promises to be a special occasion for all those inside the Theatre of Dreams.

There is the likelihood that Matheus Cunha, Diego Leon and Bryan Mbeumo will all make their first outings for United on home turf, as Ruben Amorim fine-tunes his plans for the campaign ahead.
