Manchester United’s summer transfer window has mainly focussed so far on reinforcing the attack with Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo being added to the roster.
Apart from this, the focus also seems to be on a new striker and a new goalkeeper to address two main issues in Ruben Amorim’s team. Apart from this, a new midfielder also seems to be on the cards.
For quite some time now, Valencia midfielder Javi Guerra has been linked with a move to Old Trafford. The Red Devils were hoping to convince the Spaniard to continue his career at Old Trafford.
Now, as per MARCA, Man Utd might now lose out on the signing of the talented young midfielder with Valencia offer him a new deal to convince him to stay in Spain.
Valencia are offering Guerra a contract with a salary package of about £13million gross, tying him down to the club until 2029. That is a significant wage bump for the Spaniard.
It is very obvious that the La Liga club want to do everything in their might to try and convince Guerra to commit his future to the club.
However, one can assume that Man Utd should be able to match that offer.
The Red Devils have a lot of reinforcements to make this summer and it won’t help that there are quite a few high-wage earners who are yet to be moved on this summer.
Thus, offering a very high salary to Guerra just to convince him to sign for Man Utd might not be a wise option. As talented as the Spaniard is, it is not the right play.
It remains to be seen how this particular situation surrounding Javi Guerra plays out in the coming weeks.
If he was to come to Man Utd, he would be an excellent addition to the club and let’s wait and see if the Spaniard decides to do that instead of putting pen to paper on a new deal at the Mestalla.
