Manchester United are focusing all their efforts on signing Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig.
The Slovenian sensation has become United’s priority striker target. However, Leipzig’s asking price could prove to be a stumbling block for the Red Devils.
On Wednesday, The Athletic’s David Ornstein revealed that the Bundesliga giants are “seeking a fee of €75million plus add-ons as well as a sell-on percentage for any deal for Sesko.”
Randal Kolo Muani emerges as ‘Plan B’ option for Man United
Now, Teamtalk report that United have identified Paris Saint-Germain forward Randal Kolo Muani as a potential alternative to Sesko.
The Frenchman figures “highly” on United’s radar and is viewed as a “viable alternative should their pursuit of Sesko falter.”
PSG are thought to be open to cutting ties with the 26-year-old, who has failed to establish himself in Luis Enrique’s system in the French capital.
It is claimed the Ligue 1 outfit will consider offers around the £50m mark, making him a cheaper option than Sesko. United consider PSG’s asking price as “excellent value” for a striker of Kolo Muani’s skill sets and experience.
With Hojlund and Zirkzee expected to stay beyond the summer, Kolo Muani’s versatility would make him a crucial squad player, depending on how Ruben Amorim shapes his squad.
Juventus determined to sign Kolo Muani
However, United are likely to face strong competition from Juventus.
The France international spent the second half of last season on loan at Juventus, where he rediscovered his goalscoring touch, notching 10 goals in 22 appearances for the Old Lady.
Recently, the club’s general director Damien Comolli insisted Kolo Muani wants to return to Juventus. “We are talking with Paris Saint-Germain about that, he wants to re-join us… so, there’s no rush,” he said (via Fabrizio Romano).
United, meanwhile, continue to push for Sesko’s signature, with the 22-year-old believed to be keen on moving to Old Trafford despite interest from Newcastle United.
