In-demand United star has once again been proposed to Serie A giants, long-mooted move back on the cards – reports

After registering 21 goals and assists last season for Manchester United, INEOS must have thought selling Alejandro Garnacho would not be too hard.

After all, the winger is only 21 and is already a Premier League-proven star and a full Argentina international.

And with Ruben Amorim making it clear he does not want the Carrington graduate in his team following the Europa League final spat, most clubs should have submitted an offer by now.

The problem is the Argentine wants to stay in the Premier League, and Chelsea seem to be the most interested. But a deal will not materialise as the Blues are currently after Xavi Simons.

Garnacho to be sold

Aston Villa were eyeing a loan deal, which INEOS are unlikely to sanction. Another long-term admirer Napoli had stalled negotiations with United after failing to land the versatile forward in January.

But Il Mattino (via Napoli Magazine) have claimed that the Serie A champions have once again been offered the United No.17 by intermediaries.

The only problem: Napoli do not have the fondest memories of dealing with the player’s representatives.

In fact, during negotiations, they constantly shifted the goalposts regarding Garnacho’s wage demands, upping it every time, which meant Napoli eventually moved on.

Antonio Conte remains an admirer of the United wonderkid, but for a deal to materialise, United’s asking price and the player’s personal demands would have to align with the Partenopei.

“Beware of Garnacho’s intermediaries, who are re-proposing the Manchester United winger’s name. The point is that the Argentine’s agents also didn’t behave well with Napoli in January, constantly raising their asking price.

“A compromise needs to be found: of course, he’s one of those prospects Conte likes: young, still with more than one stage of development ahead of him.”

Alfredo Pedullà has claimed that despite being offered the United attacker, Napoli are yet to re-enter into talks with the Red Devils.

It is true that Conte needs a left winger. Whether they eventually reconsider and jump for the Argentine or opt to move in a different direction remains to be seen.

INEOS will be hoping to sell him for a huge fee, and given he is a homegrown product, his sale will count as pure profit.
That, in turn, will open up the chances of landing a striker like Ollie Watkins.
