United star “floated as an idea” to Liverpool, could replace their own sought-after star – report

Marcus Rashford is struggling to secure an exit from Manchester United this summer.

Rashford has returned to Carrington upon the expiration of his loan stint at Aston Villa.

The Englishman was loaned out to Villa for the second half of the season after falling out of favour under Ruben Amorim due to his questionable work ethic.

Rashford facing uncertain future

Despite enjoying a prolific spell in Birmingham, Rashford has been asked to train separately from first team as his relationship with Amorim remains fractured.

The 27-year-old finds himself in limbo ahead of the new season, as his representatives have struggled to convince a Champions League club to make a serious move for him, with United demanding around £40 million for his transfer.

It has been widely reported that Barcelona are his “dream” option. The La Liga outfit admire the Englishman but are not prepared to meet United’s asking price. Further, their preferred target is Liverpool’s Luis Diaz.

Liverpool are working on revamping their attack as there are question marks over the futures of both Diaz and Darwin Nunez. Amid this, a shocking claim has emerged.

Rashford on Liverpool’s radar

According to the Daily Mail, Rashford was “floated as an idea” at Anfield as Liverpool have explored moves for a number of “high-profile” centre-forwards in recent days.

However, the Reds’ priority target is thought to be Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak and the initial conversation about Rashford has not progressed so far.

Even if Liverpool decide to push for Rashford’s signature, there would be too many obstacles in the way of the United academy product heading to Merseyside.

Michael Owen was the last player to represent both fierce rivals.

As such, Rashford remains United’s problem for now. Recently, the Peoples Person relayed a report claiming the Red Devils are willing to accept loan proposals in their bid to resolve his future.
