United drastically slash asking price to get forward out of the club as Amorim rejects tempting swap deal chance – report

Back in 2021, when Manchester United paid £73 million for a red-hot Bundesliga forward, they were convinced he would raise the bar at the Theatre of Dreams.

However, things did not go to plan. The player struggled, went on to fall out with his manager, and has been surviving on loan deals (at Borussia Dortmund and then Chelsea) for the last two seasons.

The Chelsea loan deal was intended to facilitate his £25 million permanent switch to Stamford Bridge, but wage demands proved a stumbling block.

United ended up pocketing £5 million after Chelsea agreed to pay penalty after they failed to honour their obligation to buy.

By now, it is clear the player in question is Jadon Sancho.

Well, Sancho is back in Manchester, and the Red Devils are keen on selling him, but that has proven to be a tricky affair so far.

The winger has had several suitors, but even if United have been open to letting him go for as little as €25 million (£21.5 million), no club has stepped forward to meet that valuation.

United are ready to compromise on Sancho’s asking price

According to Give Me Sport, in a bid to facilitate a swift exit, the Red Devils are now considering a further reduction in the asking price as Juventus continue to push for a deal.

It is claimed INEOS could now sanction his departure for as little as £15 million, with the player reportedly willing to scale back his wage demands to secure a move to the Serie A giants.

The Bianconeri should view this as a golden opportunity.

According to GMS, although Juve is weighing up the option, they are in no rush; they believe the competition for Sancho is currently minimal and may explore creative ways to finalise the deal.

However, under instructions from head coach Ruben Amorim, United are holding out for a straightforward cash offer, despite earlier reports suggesting a potential swap deal involving Douglas Luiz had been mooted.

So, if the Old Lady wants to finally get their man, one year after missing out on him, they will have to reach into their coffers.

Could Sancho rediscover his form?

Juventus remain hopeful Sancho can revive his spark. His return of five goals and 10 assists in 42 games for Chelsea offers a flicker of encouragement.

It is likely why, according to the UK source, they are keen to offer him a five-year deal, allowing them to spread the cost of his transfer throughout the contract.
