Manchester United have decided that Marcus Rashford will not be sold for a cut-price fee as multiple clubs plot a move for the Mancunian.
The Carrington graduate has long held a dream of moving to Barcelona, who were initially looking at a loan deal for the Englishman.
But the Catalan giants were ready to splurge £50 million to activate Athletic Bilbao talisman Nico Williams’ release clause, and that means they have the money to spend on Marcus Rashford as well if they really want him.
The Athletic Club ace has decided to renew his deal with the Basque outfit, which means the Catalans are likely to return for the United superstar.
United will not sell Rashford on the cheap
As a result, as per Givemesport, the Red Devils have decided to stick to their £40 million valuation of the England international.
“GMS sources have been told that Manchester United are holding out for £40million and will not drop their demands after Barcelona initially showed a willingness to activate Athletic Bilbao talisman Nico Williams’ £50million release clause, highlighting that they have the funds to buy Rashford.
“The La Liga title-holders have been forced to move onto alternative targets as the Spain international penned a new 10-year contract in his current surroundings earlier this month, leading to the Red Devils indicating that they will not accept a cut-price fee for their 27-year-old academy graduate.
“Manchester United are not prepared to entertain a loan deal for Rashford at this stage, even though GMS sources understand that was Barcelona’s original preference before Williams’ decision to stay at Athletic Bilbao.”
No loan exit either
Aston Villa had the option of making the 27-year-old’s loan move permanent for the aforementioned amount, but their failure to qualify for the Champions League put paid to those hopes.
The former United No.10 has also attracted the interest of both Fenerbahce, with former United boss Jose Mourinho keen on a reunion while Bayern Munich are also sniffing around.
The Turkish giants are eyeing a loan deal, which means an exit is unlikely as per what the above report has stated. Whether the Bavarian giants can take advantage of the situation and pounce remains to be seen.
Rashford returned to Carrington early even though he was afforded extra time off to find a new club for himself, but that has not changed Ruben Amorim’s mind with the forward still training on his own.
The pair had an infamous fall-out last season, which signalled the end of Rashford’s spell at his boyhood club.
