United star gunning for back-to-back wins as she’s nominated for top award following brilliant WSL season

Manchester United midfielder Grace Clinton has been shortlisted for the PFA Women’s Young Player of the Year award.

Clinton enjoyed a superb season with United, helping the club to a third-placed finish in the Women’s Super League and in the process, secure Champions League football.

Marc Skinner’s side also reached the final of the FA Cup for a third consecutive year, but they suffered a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Chelsea at Wembley.

But overall, the season was a successful one and Clinton has been recognised for her contributions.

She managed a best-ever personal return of nine goals in 22 games. Clinton was a regular in the team, regularly producing impressive performances in the attacking midfield role.

The 22-year-old is looking to win the accolade for the second year running, having picked it up last season for her fine displays while on loan at Tottenham Hotspur.

United brought her back and she picked up right where she left off, without missing a step. Clinton made her debut and found the back of the net in a 3-0 win over West Ham at Old Trafford.

To win the PFA Women’s Young Player of the Year award, the England international will need to ward off stiff competition from Aggie Beever-Jones (Chelsea), Maika Hamano (Chelsea), Mary Fowler (Manchester City), Weikie Kaptein (Chelsea) and Olivia Smith (Liverpool).

The winner will be announced during a ceremony at the Manchester Opera House on Tuesday, August 19.

The PFA will also present awards to the standout players across the Premier League, Championship, League One, and League Two, along with the prestigious Senior Women’s Player of the Year honour.

Meanwhile, Clinton will undoubtedly be focused on her first senior international tournament this summer.

The United star was called up for England’s Euro 2025 squad as the Lionesses look to defend their crown in Switzerland.
