United trouble-maker refusing to lower his demands, INEOS could be forced to play a costly game to solve problem – report

Manchester United have a huge problem on their hands regarding Jadon Sancho and his future, with INEOS keen to offload the player and reduce his substantial wages from the wage bill.

However, the Englishman has so far refused to take a pay cut, which has led Chelsea to opt not to sign him, despite the London side being obligated to acquire him following his loan spell.

Enzo Maresca was not happy with his inconsistent performances, while the Blues also failed to agree a new wage packet with the United star, prompting his return to Old Trafford.

There has been interest from Turkey and Serie A, but whether the interested teams can afford the 25-year-old’s salary is doubtful.

Dortmund return on the cards

The England international is open to a return to former club Borussia Dortmund but the Bundesliga giants are in no position to pay his £250,000 per week wages (via capology).

Which is why Givemesport have claimed that the Red Devils will have to pay a portion of his wages in order for the player to rejoin the German giants.

This was the formula United were forced to adopt two seasons ago, and it seems like a similar ploy will have to be used again to get rid of the trouble-maker.

“Manchester United are facing an uphill battle to find a buyer for Jadon Sancho as the Old Trafford outcast has made it clear that he will not lower his salary expectations despite being open to returning to Borussia Dortmund during the summer transfer window, GIVEMESPORT sources have revealed.

“GMS sources have been informed that Sancho is open to heading back to Borussia Dortmund for a third spell, having racked up 13 goal contributions over the course of his season-long loan spell away from Manchester United, but he has provided the German side with a significant stumbling block as he is not willing to take a pay cut.

“Borussia Dortmund are interested in exploring a move for Sancho, GMS sources have learned, but they are waiting to discover whether there is any way around his salary situation before formally committing to a pursuit as they are not entertaining breaking their wage structure to meet his demands.

Again United might have to subsidise Jadon Sancho exit

“GMS sources have been told that Manchester United could be forced to subsidise part of Sancho’s wages in order to make a switch to Borussia Dortmund possible, but they have been trying to move away from doing that after seeing other high-profile names rediscover their best form elsewhere as they aim to reignite their career.”

Dortmund currently do not have the means to make an attempt for the Englishman but Jamie Gittens’ departure to Chelsea might make it easier for them to afford their former star.

Sancho’s current deal with United ends in 2026, which is why INEOS could be forced to trigger the one-year extension option in his contract before loaning him out.

Also the co-owners must include an obligation instead of an option to buy so that, like Chelsea, they cannot escape from acquiring him in the long run.

Apart from Dortmund, there is plenty of English interest with the former Manchester City academy graduate eager to remain in England.

United will hope they can finally devise a permanent exit solution with Ruben Amorim having no intention of working with the player.
