Rasmus Hojlund is expected to make way for a new Manchester United striker signing this summer.
The once-promising Danish international has struggled to justify his £72 million price tag since arriving from Atalanta two years ago.
Touted as United’s answer to Erling Haaland, the 22-year-old has completely failed to challenge the Norwegian’s dominance in Premier League goal-scoring.
With 14 goals in 62 appearances, his league output has been underwhelming; his performances even more so.
Reports suggest head coach Ruben Amorim, frustrated by Hojlund’s inconsistency in front of goal, has left him out of next season’s plans.
Hojlund Remains Coy on Transfer Exit
While on international duty, the former Atalanta striker dismissed speculation that his time at Old Trafford was over. He reaffirmed his commitment to United, emphasizing that his contract runs until 2030.
As speculation over his future grows, fresh reports from Italy indicate extensive negotiations between United and Inter Milan.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Inter are keen on a loan deal with an option to buy, while INEOS insists on a €45 million (£38 million) obligation to purchase.
Inter banking on Hojlund to push for exit
With both clubs at an impasse, the Italian outlet go on to reveal Inter hope the Red Devils’ number nine will push for the transfer himself.
They anticipate he may force an exit to break the deadlock but acknowledge it may not happen immediately.
Regardless, the Champions League finalists remain convinced the former Atalanta forward is the missing piece their attack needs after a disappointing end to the season.
While United are open to offloading the striker, their fans will appreciate that the club remains firm on securing the right price rather than offloading him cheaply.
As INEOS edge closer to signing a new striker for Amorim, Hojlund may find fresh motivation to push for an exit, something Inter are hoping for.
However, with multiple clubs vying for his signature, Inter may have no choice but to meet United’s valuation.
