Eriksen scores in Denmark victory

Manchester United midfielder Christian Eriksen scored the winner as Denmark beat Northern Ireland 2-1 in Copenhagen on Saturday.

Both Eriksen and fellow United compatriot Rasmus Hojlund began the contest, with Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg putting through his own net to open the scoring.

Lazio man Gustav Isaksen equalised just before the interval to set-up an exciting second half at Parken Stadium.

Isaksen then turned provider on 67 minutes, teeing up Eriksen to slot home past Pierce Charles to complete the turnaround for Denmark.

His latest strike also means the soon-to-be departing United man is now third place in his nation’s all-time scoring charts, with 45 goals to his name.

Rasmus played just over an hour before being replaced by Mika Biereth, with Patrick Dorgu an unused substitute across the 90 minutes.

Over at the Toulon Tournament in France, Chido Obi scored for Denmark’s Under-20 side as they beat Congo 2-0.

Obi, who began on the bench, was introduced midway through the second half and made sure of the win with a well taken finish in stoppage time.

That means it’s now two wins from two for Chido and Denmark at the tournament, with their final game on Tuesday against Japan.

Elsewhere across Europe, Turkey were in Connecticut for a friendly against Mauricio Pochettino’s outfit.

Reds goalkeeper Altay Bayindir was an unused sub as his homeland won 2-1 thanks to goals from Arda Guler and Kerem Akturkoglu.
