Ineos poised to rip up contract of United star and hand him to PL rivals for free, he has become “nightmare” for club – report

Manchester United reportedly face the prospect of having to agree a contract settlement with Jadon Sancho to get rid of him amid interest from West Ham United.

As things stand, Sancho is set to return to Carrington — a scenario not many would have anticipated at the start of the season.

Chelsea signed the out-of-favour forward in a loan deal including an obligation to buy for £25 million. However, the Blues somehow convinced United to hand them an option to back out of the deal by paying a £5m penalty fee.

Earlier this month, they decided to exercise that, leaving INEOS with a major headache.

According to ESPN, Sancho’s return is a “nightmare scenario” for the club’s hierarchy.

Ruben Amorim has no interest in reintegrating the 25-year-old into his squad. The Englishman, meanwhile, has no intention of playing for the Red Devils again.

However, he still has a year left on his contract which sees him take home more than £300,000 per week.

It is claimed “there is tentative interest” from West Ham United, who are exploring the market to hand Graham Potter a new attacker, as there are question marks over Mohammed Kudus’ future in London.

Sancho could prove to be a promising addition for the Hammers, but their pursuit is expected to be very tricky as the left-winger would “smash their wage structure.”

The outlet suggests the situation has left United “facing the prospect of having to sanction another loan move while paying a portion of his salary, or come to an agreement to settle the last year of his contract.”

United previously ripped up the contract of Alexis Sanchez in 2020 by agreeing to pay him around £9m before he joined Inter Milan on a free transfer.

This might be the club’s only option to pave the way for Sancho’s exit, as he is seemingly not prepared to take a substantial cut to find a new club and it is very difficult to see any suitor agreeing to his current demands on the back of a season where he scored just three goals in the Premier League.
