Manchester United need to upgrade their striking options after the dreadful season Rasmus Hojlund endured and Ipswich Town’s Liam Delap seems to be the preferred choice.
United’s current No.9 cut a forlorn figure on Sunday in the club’s last Premier League game of the season, and the player is reportedly unhappy with the support he has received both on and off the pitch.
INEOS want him gone in the summer and technical director Jason Wilcox is pushing for the Ipswich Town “monster“, who is currently speaking to all his English suitors, following his club’s relegation.
Initially it seemed the former Manchester City starlet would only move to a club which would offer him Champions League football, making Chelsea the favourites following the Red Devils’ Europa League final heartbreak.

But the 22-year-old seems to want a return to the North West and the 20-time English league champions are back in the driver’s seat even though quite a few clubs remain in the race.
Everton have held face-to-face talks while Newcastle, Tottenham Hotspur and Nottingham Forest are also interested.
Givemesport have claimed that INEOS have handed the Ipswich star one week to decide whether he wants to move to Old Trafford as they look to trim the squad in accordance with Amorim’s wishes.

“Manchester United have set a deadline for Delap to make a decision on whether he is interested in heading to Old Trafford, according to GMS sources, with influential figures aiming to get a clear indication of his intentions by the end of the week as he prepares to leave relegated Ipswich.”
A double deal for the England U21 international and Matheus Cunha is what INEOS are working on, and both deals will see most of the budget get eaten up.
If this deal materialises, United will then focus on player sales, and the revenue generated will decide which players the club can subsequently sign.
Bryan Mbeumo of Brentford seems a top target at the moment. Both the Bees ace and the Wolves star can play as strikers if a deal for Delap does not work out.
United also have a B list of striker targets ready and the list includes the likes of Moise Kean, Jean-Philippe Mateta, Mateo Retegui and Lorenzo Lucca.
