Manchester United are interested in signing Nelson Semedo from Wolverhampton Wanderers, as per reports.
Wolves are set to lose their talisman Matheus Cunha to the Red Devils this summer.
Late on Sunday, The Peoples Person relayed a report claiming United have reached a verbal agreement over signing Cunha. The club intend to finalise the transfer this week by triggering a release clause in his contract at Molineux.
A report suggests United are not going to stop their raid on the Midlands outfit just yet, as they also plan to sign their skipper.
According to Football Transfers, United have shown interest in signing Semedo this summer.
The 31-year-old Portuguese has been a key part of the Wolves’ first team, having started regularly under different managers, including current boss Vítor Pereira. He has made 34 appearances in the Premier League this campaign, registering four assists in the process.
The Portugal international, who is capable of playing as a right-back and right wing-back, moved to the Premier League from Barcelona in 2020.
However, Semedo is expected to leave Wolves as a free agent this summer despite being offered a four-year contract extension offer.
It is claimed that United explored the possibility of signing Semedo during talks to bring Cunha to Old Trafford.
Known for his pace and intensity, Semedo would be a shrewd addition for United, especially on a free transfer.
Patrick Dorgu’s arrival has strengthened the side’s left wing-back position, but they still lack a reliable option on the opposite flank.
Amorim has mostly used Noussair Mazraoui in that area but the Moroccan lacks physicality to make a difference at both ends of the pitch. He is more suited to playing as a wide centre-back.
