“We’re not angry”: United new boy breaks silence on dressing room mood after recent horror show

Manchester United’s January signing Patrick Dorgu has claimed the future for the club is much brighter than their current league standing.

The Red Devils lie in 16th place in the league and could even fall to an embarrassing 17th place if results go against them on the last day of the season on Sunday.

United’s only saving grace is that they will come up against Tottenham Hotspur in the Europa League final tomorrow, aiming to bring the trophy back to Manchester.

Speaking to The Mirror, Dorgu gave some background to his strong religious faith and how this guides him on the pitch.

He explained, “my family are religious and the reason they gave me my middle name (Chinazaekpere) was because of the meaning behind it.”

The name translates literally in English to “God answers prayers”.

Dorgu went on to state, “they told me at a young age what it meant. It comes from my Ebo heritage. My family’s culture is something I learned about. I believe in God and I am always praying. I hope we win the final – it’s what I am praying for.”

The 20 year old Dane left Italian side Lecce in January and explained the reasoning behind his move in the middle of the campaign.

Elaborating further on his transfer decision he stated, “my thinking was that I was moving to one of the biggest teams in the world, big names, big players so for me at the age of just 20 it would be better for me to progress and develop my talent.”

Dorgu has certainly played his part, playing 18 matches since joining the Red Devils at the end of January. He has also started in every knockout match of the Europa League since his arrival in Manchester.

The Dane spoke of the desire the team has to lift the trophy, especially after the hurt of experiencing such a dismal domestic season. He said, “it would mean a lot to me and to the club and the players to win the Europa League. We’re not angry, but we are disappointed about this season.”

He also commented that he feels he is progressing in every game as he picks up more experience of the league and hopes to continue improving.

The Copenhagen native admitted that he joined the club at a very difficult moment but that he only sees a positive future.

He claimed, “it has been difficult but I think there will be a lot of good years coming up, so we just need to stay focused and win the final.”

Finally, Dorgu warned his teammates that they will be up against a “dangerous opponent” in Spurs and in spite of both teams playing poorly this season. It “will be a tough game,” he said.

Alex is a huge Manchester United fan, inspired by greats of his homeland such as George Best, Harry Gregg and Norman Whiteside. Proud owner of such niche shirts such as Kleberson, Eric Djemba-Djemba and Gary Neville. Grew up pretending to be Ruud van Nistelrooy and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in the back garden, with little success.
