Manchester United suffered a 2-0 loss at the hands of West Ham. Here are our player ratings from the game.
(A score of 6 is around average)
Altay Bayindir 5 – Unconvincing once again and didn’t inspire confidence. Should have perhaps come out to claim the low cross for West Ham’s goal.
Noussair Mazraoui 4 – Not his best performance. Deceived by Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s pass for the opener.
Leny Yoro 6 – He was doing well in the middle of the back-three until he picked up an injury early in the second half and had to be taken off. Hopefully it’s not serious.
Luke Shaw 5 – Did nothing of note.
Amad 6 – Started brightly, setting up Bruno Fernandes and then firing a shot that forced Alphonse Areola into a save but he didn’t threaten much after that, bar a few unsuccessful forays inside the visitors’ box. Didn’t cover himself in glory for Tomáš Souček’s goal as Mohammed Kudus got the better of him.
Manuel Ugarte 5 – Also didn’t do anything to rave about, but he won back possession a few times in the middle of the park.
Kobbie Mainoo 4 – Not really in the game. Delivered one good cross but that was just about it. His influence waned as the game went on and he never truly recovered.
Harry Amass 3 – Some costly mistakes in the first half, one of which led to Souček finding the back of the net. There was a moment when he passed up more than one opportunity to put the ball in, drawing some groans from the crowd. Just doesn’t seem to be able to deal with the physical sides yet.
Bruno Fernandes 5 – Not as involved as he usually is. Aimed an early shot over the bar but didn’t test Areola much after that until late in the second half when he started delivering crosses into the box.
Mason Mount 6.5 – United’s best performer, which isn’t saying much. Used the ball a lot better than most of his teammates and created two very good chances.
Rasmus Hojlund 2 – Sunk to a new low against West Ham. Couldn’t hold up the ball and missed multiple promising opportunities across both halves. Very fortunate that United are lacking options in his position because he should be nowhere near the starting XI. United have a big decision looming about him this summer.
Substitutes
Harry Maguire 4 – Not strong enough against Kudus in the build-up to Jarrod Bowen’s strike. Should be doing a lot better there to stop the Ghanaian’s run. Got his head to one or two crosses but couldn’t hit the target.
Victor Lindelof 4 – Also not good enough for Bowen’s goal. Nearly gifted West Ham another goal right at the end. You’d expect more from someone so experienced.
Patrick Dorgu 5 – Just OK.
Alejandro Garnacho 5 – Didn’t really have an impact on the game.
Christian Eriksen 5 – Same as Garnacho.
