Preview: United Women v City

Friday 02 May 2025 12:30

Manchester United Women host neighbours Manchester City at Old Trafford on Sunday – and tickets are still available to buy.

It’s a massive game for both sides, as the Reds would secure European football for next season with a point.

Victory for City opens up the race again, with Nick Cushing’s side currently four points behind us in the WSL table with two matches to play.

Secure your seat now for a contest that could end up being United’s most memorable yet at the Theatre of Dreams.

HOW TO WATCH AND FOLLOW

Purchase tickets now to join the 30,000 fans who’ve already confirmed their attendance.

If you can’t be in Manchester for Sunday’s 12:00 BST kick-off, the match is being broadcast live on Sky Sports Showcase for viewers in the UK.

Live radio commentary will be available on ManUtd.com and in the United App during the game, alongside our usual updates and coverage.

Highlights will go live on our platforms from midday on Monday.

TEAM NEWS

Marc Skinner had a full squad to choose from for Wednesday’s 1-0 defeat at home to Chelsea, which confirmed the Blues as champions. Elisabeth Terland and Ella Toone could come back into contention as starters, after coming off the bench against Sonia Bompastor’s side.

“Yeah, I haven’t seen them yet, but I don’t believe so,” Skinner said, when asked if there were any new injuries.

“I gave them [a day] off yesterday, and then we’ll get in today [Friday]. We’ll be in tomorrow, and then we’ll go into the game. So, I don’t believe there is.

“I got a report last night saying that there’s no new niggles, so hopefully everybody will be ready and fit.”

City have had to make do without several key first-team players, including Mary Fowler, Vivianne Miedema and Bunny Shaw. However, Alex Greenwood and Lauren Hemp returned for the narrow win at Leicester last time out.

RECENT MEETINGS

This will be the fourth all-Manchester clash of the season, with United prevailing on two of the previous three occasions.

Ella Toone’s hat-trick helped us to a 4-2 win at the Etihad Stadium in the reverse WSL fixture, while we beat City 2-0 in the recent Adobe Women’s FA Cup semi-final.

City did gain a modicum of revenge when knocking us out of the League Cup in January, however.
