What Ruben Amorim needs most at Manchester United right now is a ruthless finisher with Rasmus Hojlund managing a meagre four Premier League goals all season.
The Dane did score the equaliser on Sunday against Bournemouth but he was largely anonymous before that. INEOS also want him gone, even if on loan.
Most recent reports have suggested that the Red Devils are trying to sign Ipswich Town’s Liam Delap but the Englishman is young and only has one season of top-flight football under his belt.
The signing feels a awful lot like the Hojlund deal, which is why alternate options include Victor Osimhen, who is a bonafide superstar.
Gyokeres deal on the cards
But whether INEOS can afford such an expensive deal remains to be seen even though Italian media have recently claimed a deal with Napoli has already been agreed.
The Portuguese tactician’s preference has always been a reunion with Sporting CP hotshot Viktor Gyokeres but United failed to land him in January as the Swede had his eyes on playing in the Champions League, something that he felt was not possible at Old Trafford.

But with the 20-time English league champions already in the semi-finals of the Europa League, the chances of landing the former Coventry City ace have once again gone up with certain outlets even claiming a deal is back on.
Now, journalist Christopher Michel has claimed that Gyokeres is heavily in-demand and the only way United can win the race for the Sweden international is if they lift the Europa League trophy in Bilbao.
Europa League win a must
“Viktor Gyökeres will be a hot topic on the transfer market this summer! But he wants to play UCL. Arsenal and Chelsea are very interested.
“MUFC is also looking closely, Amorim has developed him. To have a realistic chance, the Club probably has to win the UEL.” he wrote on X (formerly Twitter).
The Sporting striker has an astonishing 52 goals and 12 assists this season, with a goal every 74 minutes. How Amorim would love to land his protege and for him to recreate this sort of devastating form in red.
United now have added incentive to go all the way in Europe. It won’t be easy given Athletic Club’s form and the fact that Cherries boss Andoni Iraola will pass on information to Ernesto Valverde to derail United’s ambitions.
