Patrick Chinazaekpere Dorgu feels he is still getting used to competing in the Premier League, as he aims to continue developing within Ruben Amorim’s system at Manchester United.

The wing-back appreciates that hard work on the training ground is required, as he looks to build on his promising start to life at Old Trafford.

With Bournemouth to come next in the Premier League, before the first of two huge semi-final ties against Athletic Club in the Europa League, the Denmark international is determined to help the side achieve our aims in the closing part of the campaign.

He switched to the right-hand side against Wolves last time out, to allow Harry Amass to start on the other flank, and is getting to grips with English football.

Patrick Chinazaekpere Dorgu made a positive early impression in the Premier League.

“It’s a very fast league,” he told United Review, our official matchday programme. “It’s a very physical league so I think, yeah, this was my game. I just need to get many more games in the Premier League to get used to the tempo.

“I think I can get there [becoming a modern wing-back] but I still have a lot of things to improve in my game. But, definitely, I can be and I can get there.

“I think it’s a very attack-minded position. I think I just need to improve my decision-making, to think fast on the pitch and to connect better with my team-mates.

“I really like to get forward and help the team score goals and I just need to, like I said, improve on my decision-making. But it will come.”

Dorgu’s mentality is something that has been praised in the past and he feels that will stand him in good stead, considering the pressures that come with playing for a huge club like the Reds.

“I think the pressure is big at every club,” he said. “But especially United. I think the pressure is high because the expectation is so high. But being calm on the pitch helps every player to improve and develop.

“Obviously, you know when you come in during a season like this, there was the pressure, with the expectation of the fans for the new players. It will be higher, for us to help the team as much as possible. I knew that from the start.”

Our no.13 is starting to feel more at home already and is keen to push on for the rest of this term, and beyond.

“I think everyone has helped me really, really much,” he added. “For me, the players, the fans, the coach, everyone has really helped me and pushed me to be better.

“I’m really excited [about the long-term future]. I hope I can develop as much as I can here and help the team in the future and now.”
