Marc Skinner says he couldn’t be more proud of the developing relationship between Ella Toone and Grace Clinton.
The United pair, who both featured for England in their recent internationals, are starting to fine tune their performances at the heart of our midfield.
With Grace having returned from a fruitful loan spell with Tottenham Hotspur, her place in midfield has been well justified over the course of the season.
Toone, who has often been deployed a little further forward, played large parts of the Lionesses recent 5-0 win over Belgium.
Whilst it remains to be seen how Marc sets up his side in Sunday’s huge Adobe Women’s FA Cup semi-final clash with City, his pride for both Ella and Grace remains the same.
“I obviously love it when they kind of have that relationship and and you feel proud,” responded Skinner when asked about the United duo.
“I’m sure Manchester United fans feel proud when you see your players playing alongside each other in the national team, which creates that kind of chemistry.
“[It then] continues when they’re not with us on international duty. So yeah, it’s obviously an honour and I’m sure they feel the same.
“I felt that two new ones coming to the second game had a real massive impact. I felt that they were very good at what they do within the first game as well.
“So obviously Grace, before she come off, it’s a difficult game because I think they got hit by three counterattacks and [through] set pieces.
“So it was that part of the game as to why they lost it. But actually I thought they they gave a really good account of ourselves as they always do.
“And when they come in this morning, I’m really looking forward to seeing them because when they all come back in on that day one, the energy is fantastic.”
The Reds are bidding to book a third-successive FA Cup final visit this weekend, and with a sold-out allocation set to back United, we can’t wait.
