United ready to spend €70m on 27-goal winger, offer “difficult to refuse” for European giants – report

Manchester United have made a strong move for Barcelona winger Raphinha, as per reports.

Rasmus Hojlund ended his 21-game goal drought for United in the Red Devils’ 3-0 win over Leicester City. The striker’s long wait for a goal highlights Ruben Amorim’s woes going forward.

Apart from Hojlund, the likes of Garnacho and Joshua Zirkzee have also struggled to get on the scoresheet on a regular basis, leading to the club’s hierarchy exploring the market for a new forward.

Manchester United submit bid for Raphinha

According to Fichajes, United have made a bold move to sign Raphinha from Barcelona.

The Brazilian forward is enjoying a prolific campaign in Spain, having managed an incredible 27 goals and 21 assists in all competitions.

The former Leeds United superstar has now established himself as one of Hansi Flick’s most reliable attackers, earning plaudits for his aggressive and direct style of play.

His intensity out of possession and versatility should make him an attractive option for Ruben Amorim, who could do with a new wide playmaker as well as an attacking wing-back.

The Brazilian international has played on both flanks as well as through the middle under Flick this term.

The Spanish outlet claim that United have stepped up their efforts to secure his services, having tabled a tempting offer of €70 million for the 28-year-old star.

Further, it is suggested that Barca could find United’s offer “difficult to refuse.” However, at this point, their intention is not to lose Raphinha, whose contract runs out in 2027.

Considering the La Liga side’s financial predicament, a major exit from Camp Nou can’t be ruled out but the Premier League giants are in no better position, financially.

With their European fate in the balance, it is unlikely Ineos will agree to spend such a figure on one player at this stage of the season. As such, it is advised to take the claim with a pinch of salt.
