There was a welcome sight at Manchester United’s open training session, ahead of Thursday’s Europa League second-leg showdown with Real Sociedad.
Mason Mount was back working with the group, as he takes a big step towards making his first appearance of 2025, after suffering an injury in the Manchester derby victory at the Etihad Stadium in December.
Head coach Ruben Amorim has already expressed in the past how the clever midfielder could be the perfect fit for his system.
We are due to hear from Ruben Amorim on Wednesday afternoon, to preview the Old Trafford clash, with the tie all square at 1-1 following the first leg at the Reale Arena last week.
It is likely he will be asked about Mount, and whether the 26-year-old can be in contention for a place in the matchday squad as early as Thursday night, or held off from returning.
Manuel Ugarte was also present, having missed the first leg and Sunday’s draw with Arsenal after picking up a knock against Fulham.
Patrick Chinazaekpere Dorgu is available despite his domestic suspension, and he will also address the media alongside Amorim at Carrington.
There was no sign of Leny Yoro, after he was withdrawn at half-time against the Gunners. All in all, it was a 23-man group, consisting of the following players…

Defenders: Harry Amass, Diogo Dalot, Matthijs de Ligt, Patrick Chinazaekpere Dorgu, Tyler Fredricson, Ayden Heaven, Victor Lindelof, Noussair Mazraoui.
Midfielders: Casemiro, Toby Collyer, Christian Eriksen, Bruno Fernandes, Jack Fletcher, Mason Mount, James Scanlon, Manuel Ugarte.
Forwards: Alejandro Garnacho, Rasmus Hojlund, Chido Obi, Joshua Zirkzee.
Obi, who has been selected in Denmark’s Under-21s squad, is ineligible for the Europa League but continues to take part in first-team training.
