Amorim names team to face Ipswich

Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim has selected his XI to face Ipswich Town at Old Trafford.

The Reds are looking for three points against Kieran McKenna’s side, after drawing the reverse fixture 1-1 in Amorim’s opening game in charge.

After some below-par form at Old Trafford recently, the hosts will be determined to give the crowd something to cheer in the 19:30 GMT kick-off, which is live on TNT Sports in the UK.

There are two changes to the side that started the 2-2 draw at Everton last time out.

Noussair Mazraoui appeared to pick up a knock at Goodison Park and is only on the bench, with Leny Yoro drafted into the three-man defence. It remains to be seen whether Yoro or Matthijs de Ligt will be on the left-hand side. Casemiro makes way for Alejandro Garnacho, with captain Bruno Fernandes dropping into a deeper midfield role as a result.

There are only eight substitutes named, two of those back-up goalkeepers in Hubert Graczyk and Elyh Harrison, with teenager Chido Obi retaining his spot after coming on in the previous two fixtures.

“Nous has a little problem, but Leny was already [ready] to play,” Amorim told MUTV. “Leny is a big talent, he’s very agile, very good to get the players between the lines, so we try to see the opponent and try to choose the better players to start the game. And Garna is [in] to give different pace in certain moments of the game.”

Axel Tuanzebe returns from a one-match ban to play at his former club.
