Solskjaer confirms Besiktas’ transfer stance on signing United duo who have fallen out of favour under Amorim

Former Manchester United manager and current Besiktas boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has confirmed he is currently not pursuing Marcus Rashford or Casemiro.

The two United stars have been linked with exits this month, having fallen out of favour under Ruben Amorim.

Rashford has not played for United in their last nine games across all competitions after openly admitting he is prepared for a new challenge away from Old Trafford.

The England international is widely expected to seal a loan move amidst plenty of interest in his services, although his massive wages are proving to be a hindrance in getting a deal over the line.

Meanwhile, Casemiro was mentioned to be on the radar of Saudi Pro League outfit Al Nassr but the rumours seem to have gone cold over the past few days.

United are open to letting him leave before deadline day on February 3, in an effort to offload his hefty salary from their books.

Solskjaer – who had been out of work since leaving United in 2021 – made his return to professional football over the weekend as he was appointed the new manager of Besiktas.

Naturally, his arrival at the Istanbul club has sparked speculation that he could turn to his Old Trafford connections in a bid to bolster his squad.

Speaking to reporters [via Metro], Solskjaer was asked about potentially signing Casemiro or Rashford this month. The Norwegian replied, “There’s always a lot of speculation about Manchester United players, always a lot of speculation around me.”

“Casemiro, Marcus, two very good players, but I have not spoken to any of them.”

He added, “We are looking at possibilities for transfers in a few different positions.”

“Serdar [Topraktepe], at the moment, is helping us a lot, he’s helping us a lot.”

“It feels like the group, the energy, they are gelling well together, the coaches, the assistants, him and me.”

Solskjaer’s first game in charge comes in the Europa League against Athletic Bilbao this Thursday.
