Grace Clinton has been looking back on her short but successful career so far and setting her sights on the next steps, after signing a contract extension with Manchester United until at least 2026.
Despite still only being 21 years old, the creative midfielder has achieved plenty, winning the PFA Young Player of the Year award during her loan spell with Tottenham Hotspur and representing the England national team at multiple levels.
Clinton, who signed for United from Everton in 2022, spent time on loan with Bristol before her year at Tottenham and, when asked about the advice she’d give to other United youngsters on loan, she said it’s important to “keep believing in yourself”.
“Going out there and moving away from home and playing week in, week out in the WSL, is hard, but you learn so much and you have so many ups and downs, but every young player needs that,” she told MUTV’s Ben Ibson.

Grace Clinton, who knows all about making an impact out on loan, has a word of advice for those temporarily departing…
“Obviously when you’re in an environment where you don’t play and then you’re allowed to be free and go and play every week, I’d say to remember why you are where you are. You’ll show everyone what you can do.
“When you see the likes of Jess [Simpson] now going to Bristol, I’m so happy for her because I think it was a time in my career where I really needed to do that, and I benefitted so much from it.”
Clinton’s extension is great news for the Reds, as she has been in great form this season with four goals in ten WSL appearances. Looking ahead to the second half of the campaign, the England international expressed her desire for more success.
“I’m a very competitive person. [At] Manchester United, we’re expected to win,” she added.
“We want to be challenging for all of the titles, and to try and get Champions League football, that’s a big aim for us.”
Clinton and her teammates are back in action on Saturday after the winter break, as we take on West Bromwich Albion in the fourth round of the Adobe Women’s FA Cup.
