Team news for FA Cup clash at Arsenal

Manchester United are preparing for our Emirates FA Cup third-round tie against Arsenal, the most successful team in the competition’s history.

Only the Gunners (14) have lifted the trophy more often than the Reds, and we are looking to provide a statement performance as current holders, in Sunday’s 15:00 GMT kick-off.

With Mikel Arteta’s men already beaten once in a domestic cup competition at the Emirates Stadium this week, losing 2-0 to Newcastle United in the first leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final, we will be looking to avenge our 2-0 reverse at the north-London stadium last month.

Speaking at his press conference to preview the game, head coach Ruben Amorim confirmed Altay Bayindir will start in goal and Marcus Rashford is available for selection.

The homegrown forward has been ill after being an unused substitute in the home defeat to Newcastle, our final game of last year.

Bayindir replaced Andre Onana in the 4-3 loss to Tottenham in the Carabao Cup and it will be the same situation this weekend in the other half of north London.

“I don’t rotate because I want to rotate,” said the boss, “I’m trying to find the best solutions to win the game. I put the guys in who are more fresh to cope with the demands of the game. The goalkeeper position is different, so it’s a good question. Altay will play.”

Victor Lindelof, Luke Shaw and Mason Mount have all been on the sidelines due to injury.

ARSENAL’S TEAM NEWS

The Gunners are without star winger Bukayo Saka, who is out with a thigh problem. Exciting youngster Ethan Nwaneri has also joined defenders Ben White and Takehiro Tomiyasu on the sidelines after sustaining an injury soon after scoring in the 1-1 draw with Brighton & Hove Albion.

Unlike in the Carabao Cup, reserve goalkeeper Neto is eligible and Raheem Sterling is available again after illness.
