United plotting summer swoop for “superb talent” with both goalkeepers letting Amorim down – report

Manchester United are reportedly interested in Belgium Under-21 international Senne Lammens.

The Red Devils have suffered from goalkeeping errors lately as both Andre Onana and Altay Bayindir have been far from impressive.

Onana started the season well but the last month has seen a return of the lapses in concentration which characterised his first months at the club, including conceding directly from a corner against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Thursday.

Bayindir also didn’t cover himself in glory, conceding four versus Tottenham Hotspur a few days ago, including directly from another corner.

Whilst Onana looks like he will be the number one keeper at least for the short term, Bayindir’s future is far from certain.

Consequently, Illan Meslier and Gregor Kobel have both recently been linked with a move to Old Trafford to challenge the Cameroonian.

The Telegraph have also added another name to the potential list in 22-year-old Senne Lammens.

He “has been the first-choice goalkeeper at Royal Antwerp this season after establishing himself in the first-team at the end of the last campaign, with Bundesliga clubs such as Borussia Dortmund viewing him as a player with huge potential.”

United scouts have also noticed him and have been watching “him this season in the Belgian Pro League and are looking at goalkeepers in case they need to make a replacement in the next window.”

A keeper is not a priority in the January window but they are keeping tabs on goalkeepers in case Bayindir decides to leave the club.

Lemmens has played 20 games this season for Royal Antwerp, conceding 21 goals and keeping five clean sheets.

The keeper has been described as a “superb talent” who is a strong shot stopper, even from close-range efforts.

Alex is a huge Manchester United fan, inspired by greats of his homeland such as George Best, Harry Gregg and Norman Whiteside. Proud owner of such niche shirts such as Kleberson, Eric Djemba-Djemba and Gary Neville. Grew up pretending to be Ruud van Nistelrooy and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in the back garden, with little success.
