Manchester United defender Lisandro Martinez says he ‘sees a light’ at the club despite Sunday’s defeat against Bournemouth.

The Reds were beaten comprehensively by Andoni Iraola’s side in M16 with Dean Huijsen, Justin Kluivert and Antoine Semenyo all finding the net in a 3-0 loss.

United did have chances across the 90 minutes, with Bruno Fernandes, Alejandro Garnacho and Joshua Zirkzee all coming close.

Martinez, who played alongside Harry Maguire and Noussair Mazraoui for the majority of the contest, admitted that going behind is proving to be an Achilles’ heel as of late.

“We are very disappointed. I think we are playing so well, we create many chances but unfortunately we couldn’t score,” began our no.6.

“We now have to adjust a few things, especially at set-pieces, we have to start games by scoring the first goal.

“We want to work on that, I think we have a great coach and a great group as well.

“We have the chance now because we know in this club, losing is unacceptable. We are here to change things.”

Despite back-to-back defeats, Licha went on to explain that he can see a beacon of positivity transpiring around United during the early days of Ruben Amorim’s tenure.

It was only seven days ago that the Reds posted an impressive derby triumph over Manchester City, and the defender thinks that we have warranted more rewards than we have got on the pitch in recent weeks.

“For sure we deserve more. I see a light in this club and I think we are going to achieve that,” added Martinez.

“You see in the games that we are improving. We have to believe and for sure it is hard to accept this kind of result.

“I believe a lot in the staff and in our team that, how I said, we are going to change this.”

United return to action in just four days with a Boxing Day trip to Molineux next on the cards, as we look to get back to winning ways in the Premier League against Wolves.

“We have to now recover and prepare for the game because we need points,” concluded Licha in his MUTV debrief.

“We want to change this situation. I am 100 per cent confident on that.”
