Man United are one of at least six clubs competing for the signature of Corinthians midfielder Breno Bidon, according to reports in Brazil.
UOL Esporte claims that the Red Devils, Manchester City, Wolves, Napoli, Zenit St Petersburg and PSV Eindhoven are all interested in signing the 20-year-old.
They go as far as to say that one team, PSV, has already had a €9m (£7.8m) offer knocked back by Corinthians for the player.
The Brazilian Under 20 international has shown a lot of promise, having already established himself as a regular starter for his club despite having only turned 20 earlier this year.
What do fans need to know about Bidon?
As mentioned, the youngster is already a key member of Corinthians’ first team. He came through their youth ranks before making his senior debut against Agua Santa-SP in the Paulista State Championship in March 2023.
Bidon has gone on to make 87 appearances, scoring 2 goals and providing 3 assists. The midfielder has played the majority of his matches as a No.8, and he is predominantly left-footed.
At international level, Bidon has been capped 11 times by Brazil’s Under 20s, playing in all of their games at the South American Championships earlier this year. However, he was not selected in the squad for the Under-20 World Cup.
Man United are targeting young South American talent
Bidon is by no means the only young South American that the Red Devils have pursued in recent months. Paraguayan wingback Diego Leon joined from Cerro Porteno back in July.
The Manchester club have also reached an agreement with Fortaleza CEIF to sign the Colombian Cristian Orozco next summer.
From the sound of things, though, the battle to secure Bidon’s services is set to be hotly contested. We shall see who comes out on top.
