6 clearances, 3 interceptions, 1 key pass: United loanee makes welcome return to first team action

Joe Hugill

Manchester United loanees were in action on a busy night of lower league football last night.

Joe Hugill started up front for Carlisle United in a 1-0 defeat to Newport County.

It was the sixth consecutive match for the striker, who has seen his gametime expand since moving down to League Two after the club ended his loan spell at League One Wigan Athletic last month.

He was given a respectable score of 7.5 from Sofascore and played 74 minutes of action.

Hugill was heavily involved and had three shots on target, two shots off target and had one effort blocked by a resolute home defence.

He had 26 touches of the ball and completed eight out of his 13 passes for a rather low completion rate of 62%.

The 21 year old won his only aerial duel and one out of his three ground battles in the defeat.

Despite not scoring, he is clearly getting much more involved at this level and the goals will surely start to flow for the former Sunderland striker.

Sonny Aljofree came off the bench in a 1-0 loss to Bradford City, playing 58 minutes of the game.

He was given a score of 7 on Sofascore and made six clearances for his team.

Aljofree also made three interceptions but only won one out of his four aerial battles.

The 20 year old only completed 65% of his passes but one was a key pass that his team could not convert.

Finally, Rhys Bennett played the final 28 minutes of Fleetwood Town’s 0-0 draw with Tranmere Rovers.

He made two clearances, had one blocked shot and one tackle. He won both his aerial duels and one out of his two ground battles.

The 21 year old had a terrible night with his passing though as he only completed two out his nine efforts and only connected with one of his seven long ball attempts.

Alex is a huge Manchester United fan, inspired by greats of his homeland such as George Best, Harry Gregg and Norman Whiteside. Proud owner of such niche shirts such as Kleberson, Eric Djemba-Djemba and Gary Neville. Grew up pretending to be Ruud van Nistelrooy and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in the back garden, with little success.
