Victor Lindelof may be set for a surprise reunion after leaving Manchester United as a free agent.
Signed from Benfica under Jose Mourinho in 2017, Lindelof spent eight years at Old Trafford, playing a vital role at the back under a number of different managers.
However, the Sweden international failed to establish himself as a first-team regular under Ruben Amorim, who showed more trust in youngsters Leny Yoro and Ayden Heaven.
Accordingly, United didn’t offer the 31-year-old a new contract, allowing him to leave the club at the end of last season.
Fiorentina trying to sign Lindelof
As per Fabrizio Romano, Fiorentina are “in talks over surprise deal” to sign Lindelof.
The Serie A outfit are in negotiations with the veteran central defender’s camp over a free transfer this summer.
The Italian journalist adds that Lindelof also has two proposals from the Premier League, with the Swede yet to make a final decision on his future.

Should Lindelof decide to move to Florence, he will reunite with ex-United number one David de Gea, who joined the Italian outfit in 2024.
They shared the dressing room for six years in Manchester.
De Gea has been a huge success at Fiorentina
The Spaniard was also released by United after falling down the pecking order in 2023. It took him a year to find a suitable club. After moving to Fiorentina, De Gea quickly became the side’s number one shot-stopper.
His impressive performances in Italy’s top flight have even led to surprise suggestions that United would like to bring him back to the Theatre of Dreams. However, reliable journalist Gianluca Di Marzio has claimed De Gea has no desire to leave Fiorentina at the moment.
Regardless, United continue to search for a new goalkeeper, having held talks with Royal Antwerp over a move for Senne Lammens.
