0 shots on target, 0 key passes, 0 dribbles, 0 crosses: United’s £60m man puts in a truly invisible performance vs Arsenal

Manchester United’s Mason Mount put in a bitterly disappointing performance against Arsenal at the Emirates.

Mount has suffered from numerous serious injuries since his move to United in 2023 but new coach Ruben Amorim has sung his praises since arriving at the club.

Nonetheless, the Englishman’s career at Old Trafford is yet to spark into life and based on tonight’s showing, looks unlikely to ever do so.

In the 2-0 defeat to Arsenal, Mount was selected to start behind Rasmus Hojlund in Amorim’s 3-4-3 formation.

The former Chelsea man was given a rating of 6.7 from Sofascore and was subbed off after 58 minutes of play.

Mount carried very little goal threat as he had an Expected Goals of 0.03 and an Expected Assist of 0.01.

He had one shot that went harmlessly wide of the goal in what was his only real contribution to the game.

United had over 50% possession of the ball in the first half but practically none of the play came through United’s number 7 as he only had 15 touches of the ball.

He did complete 91% of his passes but this must be framed in the context that he only attempted 11 passes the whole time he was on the pitch.

Mount was also ineffective in trying to win back possession as he only won one out of his three ground duels and lost his only aerial battle.

He also failed to contribute any dribbles or crosses in the entire time he was on the pitch.

He did manage to get a block in but made two fouls in the match.

Amorim’s previous comments clearly suggest that Mount will have plenty more chances to prove himself but after 30 appearances for the Red Devils, fans are still left scratching their head about what he actually brings to the table.

Alex is a huge Manchester United fan, inspired by greats of his homeland such as George Best, Harry Gregg and Norman Whiteside. Proud owner of such niche shirts such as Kleberson, Eric Djemba-Djemba and Gary Neville. Grew up pretending to be Ruud van Nistelrooy and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in the back garden, with little success.
