0 shots, 1/3 dribbles, 0 crosses: wantaway United star completely lacked final product in dramatic 1-0 win over Fulham

Manchester United produced yet another late goal to secure a nervy 1-0 win over Fulham on Sunday night.

It was a less-than-convincing performance by Man United at Craven Cottage, with the team managing just four shots on goal throughout the entire encounter.

Still, it was the final score that mattered most as Lisandro Martinez’s 78th-minute strike handed United a win that allowed them to continue their ascent back up the Premier League table.

The attack was largely dull and underwhelming, with Alejandro Garnacho proving to be a significant source of United’s struggles up front.

From early on, the Argentine showed his desire, racing up the flank and dribbling past Timothy Castagne before linking up with teammate Noussair Mazraoui to hammer in one of United’s first attacking movements of the game. Sadly, Garnacho’s performance wasn’t all positive.

Garnacho won just two of five ground duels while losing possession on 13 occasions. He completed just one of three dribbles.

The winger completed just 23 of 29 passes for a 79% passing accuracy.

He also failed to complete his only cross, while he never even attempted a single long ball.

Given his quick feet and acceleration, Garnacho was pretty effective at moving the ball up the field quickly and transitioning into attack. Still, he lacked the final product.

After all, he took zero shots throughout the encounter despite his constant presence around the box.

Garnacho’s defensive game was also lacking in its entirety. With no defensive actions at all, Garnacho seems far less suited to a wing-back role than Amad Diallo on the opposite flank, should Ruben Amorim consider making any changes.

Sadly, Garnacho’s underwhelming performance only highlighted United’s larger struggles on the attack. Both he and his teammates will surely need to do some introspection and extra work on the training ground to improve their fortunes in front of goal.
