Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane has, on Sunday, spoken out, amid the widespread speculation surrounding his future.

Nacho on targetLos Blancos were of course back in action a short time ago.

The capital giants made the trip to the Basque country, for an absolutely crucial La Liga showdown with Athletic Bilbao.

Ahead of kick-off at the San Mames, Real sat just two points adrift of city rivals Atletico at the Spanish top-flight summit.

In turn, Zidane and co. were, ahead of kick-off, no doubt aware that nothing but a victory would suffice, in their efforts to keep alive the club’s hopes of securing a 2nd-straight league title.

And, when all was said and done, secure all three points is precisely what Los Merengues managed.

A solitary strike from surprise hero Nacho Fernandez a little over twenty minutes from time saw Real keep the pressure on Atleti, who also got the better of Osasuna at the Wanda Metropolitano:

Real Madrid have scored! 🚨

Nacho didn’t know anything about it, but what a monumental goal that could prove to be 👀

‘Not said anything’it was not Real’s efforts on the pitch, however, which went on to take centre stage in the post-match media chatter at the San Mames.

Instead, it was the future of Zinedine Zidane.

Just last night, it was widely reported that Los Blancos’ long-time boss had informed the club’s stars of his decision to step down in the summer:

24 hours on, though, ‘Zizou’ has moved to put such claims to bed.

Speaking during a post-match interview, the French tactician confirmed that he has not yet spoken to Real’s squad about his future, with the club’s focus remaining on matters on the pitch:

Zinedine Zidane: “How can I tell my players that I’m leaving the club at this stage of the season? I’ve not said anything to my players about my future”. ⚪️ #RealMadrid

Florentino is waiting for Zidane ‘official’ decision too, while Real contacted other managers to be prepared.
