Wolves target center-back Sven Botman; face competition from Sevilla

Wolves continue to push forward under new boss Bruno Lage in the aftermath of Nuno Espírito Santo’s exit to Tottenham this summer, with Molineux outfit now being linked with credible interest in LOSC Lille’s Sven Botman.

Botman, a Dutch U21 international, emerged as one of the bright young center-backs in Ligue1 last season under Christophe Galtier after joining from Ajax Amsterdam last summer. Botman made 47-appearances last season in all competitions for Les Dogues, including thirty-seven in Lille’s table-topping campaign, being one of the performers of the season at the Stade Pierre-Mauroy.

The main issue between Kurt Zouma and West Ham is about agents. Chelsea want Zouma to go as they’re ready to bid for Jules Koundé in order to complete the deal. 🔵 #CFC

Should a deal be struck, Botman would be the second young center-back to join Wolves this summer, joining 20-year-old Colombian Yerson Mosquera who joined from Atlético Nacional back on 1 July.

Botman success could hinge on Zouma & Kounde moves Wolves may have to move quickly if they are to secure a deal for the highly-touted Dutch defender, with La Liga outfit Sevilla being linked with interest in the Ajax youth product.

Chelsea’s anticipated sale of Kurt Zouma hit a snag earlier today, and his move to the London Stadium could be on the verge of collapse according to TF1’s Julian Julien Maynard.

Zouma out the door would have cleared the way for Chelsea to conclude a deal for Sevilla’s Jules Kounde, concluding their long-standing interest in the French center-back, which would have paved the way for Los Nervionenses to make a move for Botman.

If discussions are ironed out and finalized, the domino effect could come directly into play. It is unclear whether or not Botman is incredibly keen on a move to the Molineux rather than Sevilla who not only are currently atop the La Liga table but can boast Champions League football.

If Wolves intend to perpetrate an impressive transfer coup this summer, they will have to move rapidly before events elsewhere are set in motion.
